Bio
In the music business often the most creative and successful artists are those who are able to effectively convert their real life tragedy to triumph stories into chart topping hits. While overcoming monumental obstacles en route to achieving worldwide acclaim could apply to numerous artists representing several styles of music perhaps none is more worthy of recognition than Mc extraordinaire “J-Rel”. Born Jarvis Gerard Releford aka “J-Rel” in Atlanta, Georgia his childhood included a horror so terrifying it nearly destroyed his whole family. Forced at age 13 to endure the multiple shootings of his father at the hands of none other than his mother who was later convicted and sentenced to 5 years in prison is the horrific mental scar that nearly prevented “J-Rel” from living a healthy normal life. However, using sports and music as an outlet in releasing as well as expressing his inner most thoughts is what allowed “J-Rel” to become a standout basketball player in high school as well as on the AAU circuits, en route to becoming the highly touted rapper he is today.
The proud torch bearer of the next generation of first class Atlanta rhyme spitters is both an honor and title that “J-Rel” holds with the highest of regards. Bringing forth an entire new approach to traditional southern Hip Hop is the calling of a truly remarkable artist destined to bring the real back to the rap game. Infusing hard hitting punch lines coupled with heartfelt lyrics that challenges the mind and soothes the soul is what makes “J-Rel” the future of Mc perfection delivered in the present. Strong words maybe, but then again one need only look, listen, or merely observe the extremely gifted rapper enter a room to understand what real star power looks like. Influenced most by Hip Hop greats “Fabolous”, “Joe Budden”, “Kriss Kross”, “T.I.”, and the late great “2pac” explains his mind blowing work ethic that to date is responsible for nearly 1,000 show performances. You name it from small to large venues and everything in between “J-Rel” has thrilled fans with his high energy and often unpredictable live stage show that packs the punch of a well traveled Rock band.
Having already shared the stage with countless superstars to include but not limited to: “T.I.”, “Young Jeezy”, “Eight Ball & MJG”, “Gorilla Zoe”, “Boyz in the Hood”, and “DJ Unk” while in the process expanding his “Alumni” movement to uncharted levels of popularity is what has made many news publications and music bloggers proclaim him as the next great Mc to emerge out of the talented “Dirty South”. As civic minded as he is talented is most evident in his regular aiding of “The American Red Cross” and “Hosea Feed the Hungry” non-profit organization of Atlanta. Currently riding high off of the massive success of his ground breaking single entitled “Doing What You Can” which has totally lockdown the streets , clubs, and internet setting the stage for the new voice of rap music…”J-Rel”.
