DJ, one could say, was destined to take part in the creation of music. Born into a family full of gospel musicians and singers, it was only a matter of time before he realized the “family genes” burning within. Being brought up in the church and singing in the choir from the age of 5 helped cultivate these musical “gifts”, as DJ refers to them. He was always a different and often times considered weird individual, who never quite fit in with the norm. DJ has been writing songs since he can remember, but got a heavy dose of inspiration after seeing the late great Michael Jackson live in concert. DJ was only 6 at this time, but the seed was planted after that event. A dream was born within him, and as many children and adults alike did, he began mimicking every move and song of MJ’s. MJ’s music was not just an inspiration to DJ, but also was an escape from some of the turmoil going on within his family during his adolescent years. DJ works diligently to hone and master his gifts of writing, singing, and producing, as he well knows talent alone is never enough.
